  • The Nocturnal Monster

The Nocturnal Monster emerged from several months of pedagogical work with the children and educators of Cameron Children’s Centre as the recreation centre, library, and trees next door began to disappear. Through visits to the changing site, photographs, drawings, stories, and shared imaginings, the children wondered about what was happening and invented a nocturnal, tree-eating monster living nearby. The book gathers these encounters with monsters, trees, construction, and place, holding children’s ideas about change, memory, what matters, and what might still be imagined.
