The BC Early Childhood Pedagogy Network (ECPN) looks forward to new possibilities for early childhood education with the recent announcement from BC Government Throne Speech that early childhood education will be moving to the Ministry of Education in April. As the provincial network of pedagogists who support early childhood educators, the ECPN looks forward to working with the Ministry of Education and our partners as we continue the work we began through the Ministry for Children and Family Development.

The move to the Ministry of Education brings us one step closer to creating a strong publicly funded system that supports BC’s young children and their families. We look forward to working with the Ministry on the challenging task of creating the conditions for a just and equitable system.  Envisioning this system through the vision and principles of the BC Early Learning Framework and the recognition of educators as deserving professionals will be critical to support the next generation of British Columbians. We invite the Ministry of Education to learn more about how the ECPN is on the ground seeding these conditions in early childhood education centres across the province.
