Conversation VIII: Part II Reimagining Children’s Relations with the Arts
October 16th, 2025
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. PT
What becomes possible when children and art galleries meet over many years? How might educators and pedagogists create curricular conditions that go beyond the ‘creative child’ to put children’s ideas into conversation with those of artworks and artists?
Join us for a conversation on a three-year inquiry between kindergarteners and the Kamloops Art Gallery (KAG). ECPN Pedagogist Teresa Smith, educator Sarah Murphy, KAG interim director Emily Hope, and ECPN co-director Veronica Pacini-Ketchabaw will share challenges, possibilities, and trajectories of this collaboration.
The evening includes the premiere of a mini-documentary and a scene created by children in response to Biidaaban: (The Dawn Comes) by Métis artist Amanda Strong. Children’s responses will be on display at the gallery through November. Location: Zoom Date: Thursday, October 16, 2025 Time: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time
